Construction
Saifco Industries design & manufactures all kind of Vertical Pressure Leaf Filter for filtration of liquids & Specially Edible Oil with suspended solid contents up to 7%. Automatic dislodging of filtered cake by pneumatic vibrator or oscillating sluice header. Dry or wet cake discharge is possible. Filtration area 10 to 60 m2. It consists of vertical MS/SS tank with filter leaves inside. The leaves are mounted vertically on a common manifold pipe, through which the filtered liquid flows out. On the top, the leaves are held by a vibrating shaft driven by pneumatic vibrator is provided for vibrating the leaf shaft for cake discharge. Over flow, vent / steam / air charging, pressure gauge & safety valve provided on the top. The top cover is provided with devit mechanism for raising the lid for cleaning / removing the leaves. 'I' bolts are provided for quick opening & closing of top lid.
Working Method
Leaf Filters are ideal for solid-liquid separation & work on principle of pre-coating & pressure. Pre-coating is done with the help of suitable bleaching earth about 1.5% mixed with the liquid to be filtered. Unfiltered liquid is pumped into the PLF. Initially the filter aid starts forming a pre-coat layer on both side of filter leaves, until then cloudy materials comes out of the filter. Once the layer is formed, the pressure starts developing, restricting the impurities. Clear liquid flows from the both sides into the leaves, flows along the tubular channel & gets discharged from bottom of the leaf. All the leaves are mounted on a common manifold. The leaves start getting choked on both the sides by impurities forming cake, which is in wet form. Once the leaves get choked completely, the pressure rises to 3-4 kg/cm2 & the output flow almost stops. The pump is stopped & steam pressure is applied from the top to filter the material around the leaves held up in the tank & to squeeze the cake further & reduce in it. The hold up unfiltered liquid in the conical portion is taken back.
Cake Discharge: In the vertical & horizontal filters the cake can be dried by steam & then discharged from the bottom with the help of pneumatic leaves vibrator. The whole operation of cake drying takes 30-45 min & cake discharge take 5-10 min. For wet cake discharge water spray nozzle is provided. In horizontal Pressure Leaf Filter wet cake can be also be discharged manually by scrapping. The shell is slided out with hydraulic Mechanism keeping the leaves in fixed position.
